Dan RakesVice President - General Manager
Dan began his career as an electrician’s apprentice in 1984 and obtained his VA Master’s license in 1993. He owned and operated Rakes Electric, Inc. for approximately seven years. Since then, Dan has worked for: Siemens Building Technologies as a Systems service technician, Colonial Mechanical Corporation as a project manager, and Johnson Controls as a project team manager. In 2005, he joined Turner Construction Company as a Project Manager and in 2007, became the Mid-Atlantic Region Logistics Manger responsible for the growth and management of Turner’s Mid-Atlantic Business unit’s MEP services team. In 2011, Dan became Vice President, Project Development for U.S. Engineering in the Mid-Atlantic area and later joined RM Thornton in 2014 as the VP, Major Projects. He joined IES-Roanoke in March 2017. Dan has a BS/BA from the University of Phoenix and is an AEE – Certified Building Commissioning Professional.
